Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a ground-based martial art and combat sport. That teaches you the art of close-contact grappling and the fundamental principles of applying pressure, timing, leverage, and angles to your advantage. Through BJJ training, you will learn how to take an opponent to the ground and achieve non-violent submission using techniques such as joint locks and chokeholds.
How long it takes to master Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu depends on one’s learning rate. It often takes a few years to fully grasp a complete understanding of the sport and to master conditioning and techniques. Aim for 2-4 years to rise to the top ranks of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a combat sport that is centered on grappling. BJJ combines the ground fighting aspect of Judo with the mental elements of Japanese Jiu-Jitsu.
Jiu-Jitsu is considered by many to be one of the toughest martial arts to learn. Contrary to the difficult nature of the sport, this challenge actually attracts many Jiu-Jitsu practitioners. It demands a high level of physical fitness, strength, and flexibility. Practice and patience, however, create successful BJJ masters.
Our students are required to wear a gi. This cotton uniform is a traditional Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu garb that consists of pants, a jacket, and a belt. Newcomers may borrow a gi if they are new to the sport.
Jiu-Jitsu is more than learning how to conquer an opponent. That’s the last important aspect of the combat sport. BJJ combines strength and cardio for a full-body workout that can improve your muscle tone and promote weight loss.

We teach with an emphasis on learning the discipline of balance first in our BJJ classes. Other benefits that come with long-term BJJ practice include:

"My boys have been going here for about a year now. They absolutely love it and have a great time. Even the days my 5 year isn't feeling it, the professors work with him and are so patient. 10 out of 10 recommend."
"Great gym and even better staff. I especially can’t say enough great things about Ethan who works with the little ones. I enrolled my son and I can honestly say it’s the best decision I could’ve made for him and his life going forward. He’s just a completely different kid, and as I father I couldn’t be more elated."
"Love my Academy family. I've trained with these guys and gals for years, and they are some of the best people I've ever stepped on the mats with. Programs offered to suit all ages and interests. Programs are run professionally by skilled and experienced instructors. The atmosphere alone is worth the membership."
